chaga tea
Recipe
Chaga is a type of medicinal mushroom growing on the side of birch trees in cold climates. Medicinal mushrooms are known for boosting the immune system at the cellular level. This tea recipe can serve as a decaffeinated substitute for coffee, and it is a good idea to reduce the amount of caffeine to speed up recovering from cold, flu, or other seasonal infections. Adding cocoa powder, almond milk, and coconut oil give this tea a thicker texture, delicious taste similar to coffee mocha, and additional health benefits.
Ingredients:
1 cup filtered water
1 tsp. Chaga powder (or 1 chaga tea bag)
½ tsp. cocoa powder
¼ cup almond milk (or any kind of plant-based milk)
1 tsp. coconut oil
Method:
Bring water close to boiling. Place the Chaga powder into a tea ball or a tea bag and place it into a mason jar. Add the cocoa powder. Pour the hot water into a mason jar with Chaga and cocoa powder, cover the cup with a lid, and let the tea steep for at least 10 minutes. Remove the tea ball, add milk and coconut oil, cover the jar tightly with the lid and shake it all well until the foam forms on top. Best to drink hot or warm. The tea ball (bag) can be reused to make another cup of tea.
