Elderberry Tea to boost the immune system
Elderberries have many benefits, but they are especially known for antiviral and antibacterial properties. Elderberry tea and elderberry syrup are on the top of the list of home remedies proven to be effective* to treat a common cold, flu, sinusitis, and herpes simplex. This recipe is my favorite. It contains other ingredients that make this tea flavorsome and even more powerful to prevent and treat seasonal infections.
Ingredients:
1.5 cup filtered water
1 Tbsp. dry elderberries
A few slices of fresh ginger
1 cinnamon stick (choose Ceylon cinnamon if available)
3 cloves
Raw honey (optional)
Fresh lemon juice to taste (optional)
Method:
Bring water to boil. Add all ingredients except for honey and lemon juice. Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain into a cup and add honey and lemon juice. Drink the tea warm or cold.
